The International
Baccalaureate (more officially known as the International
Baccalaureate Organization or IBO) is an international
organization that offers an educational program to selected
schools around the world.
|
| |
|
Gyoshu Junior
& Senior High School has chosen to implement the IBO’s
Middle Years Program for grades 7-10, and the Diploma
Program for grades 11-12 and is the first school in Japan to
receive authorization from the IBO. The IBO offers
curriculum and assessment development, teacher training,
electronic networking with other schools and educational
services. Founded in the 1960s, the IBO grew out of the
international school efforts to establish a common
curriculum and university entry credential for international
students. |

There are now over
1000 participating schools in 100 countries around the world.
Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland the IBO it is a private,
non-governmental organization recognized by the Council of Europe
and has consultative status with UNESCO. IB high school graduates
gain admission to selective colleges and universities throughout
the world. |
| |
|
Beyond high
academic standards, the IBO places strong emphasis on the
ideals of international understanding and responsible
citizenship. IB students become critical and compassionate
thinkers, lifelong learners and informed participants in
local and world affairs, respecting the cultures and
attitudes of other peoples. |
 |
|
| |
|
The advantage of
integrating the IB into the Bilingual Course at Gyoshu is that it
ensures that our students receive a truly international education
of the highest standard and allows students to fulfill university
entrance requirements of most countries around the world. |
