All Japan High School English Debate Champions!

On December 16 and 17, 2006 the team from Katoh Gakuen Gyoshu's bilingual programme won the First All Japan High School English Debate Tournament held at Gifu Shotuku Gakuen University. The debate topic was "Japan should make English its second official language". The national champion team consisted of Mikako Tai, Itaru Hiromi and Aiko Wendfeldt. Itaru Hiromi was named All Around Best Debater and Aiko Wendfeldt was name 3rd Best Debater in the tournament. The coach for the Debate and MUN team is Mr. Craig Sutton.

As well as receiving the honour of being the national high school English debate champions, Katoh Gyoshu's winning team also won the right to represent Japan in the World High School Debate Championships to be held in Seoul Korea from July 2 til 10. Preparations have already begun.

For now let's wish Mikako Tai, Itaru Hiromi, Aiko Wendfeldt and coach Sutton all the best as they prepare to represent Katoh Gyoshu and the bilingual programme at the world championships!
